The senior Homecoming King is usually the celebrity of the class from the past four years. This year, our class voted for the one and only Brady Liang.
Brady is well known in the entire grade, mostly being a math and coding genius but also as someone with a distinct voice a little bit on the louder side (you can easily distinguish it from across the hallway). He has claimed many things before in class, like being the “least biased” person in the room or arguing that something is “absolutely false,” especially during impassioned AP Lang discussions. He admits his commitment to fairness and his outsize personality can sometimes rub others the wrong way. The Falcon caught up with Liang to learn more about his thoughts regarding high school and life beyond SHS.
Q: Rank these past four years from best to worst
A: Senior, junior, sophomore, freshman. Senior year has been my favorite because during the second semester, I get to do things like eating outside of school and hanging out with friends. Freshman year is my least favorite year because I was new to the school and wasn’t used to the workload.
Q: Thoughts on the Class of ‘26?
A: The people are pretty nice and are easy to get along with, except for some people who are kind of annoying, but overall it is really good.
Q: Most unforgettable moment of high school?
The Homecoming King halftime drive during senior year.
Q: Hardest class?
A: English 11 Honors because there were too many quizzes and English 10 was too easy, so the contrast was really big, and the books were really hard — especially “Beloved.”
Q: What do you want to say to those who don’t love your candor?
A: I don’t care.
Q: Favorite moment outside of school?
A: Skiing during sophomore year because it was very thrilling and I was able to spend more time with family.
Q: What are your thoughts on the usage of AI in school?
A: It goes to show that the school curriculum needs to be adapted to the growing digital world.
Q: What do you want to do after college?
A: I want to make a lot of money through AI.
Q: Do you have a hidden talent?
A: No
Q: What do you like to listen to focus?
A: Neither music nor podcasts because they are all a big distraction.
Q: Favorite teacher?
A: Mr. Welander, because he explained all the physics concepts very well. I went into junior year not understanding any physics and he explained each topic in great detail.
Q: What other grade was your favorite?
A: Class of ‘28, because my sister is there.
Q: What is your favorite topic to debate about?
A: Philosophy (shoutout to Mr. Rector).
Q: Favorite boardgame?
A: Monopoly, because I know the best strategy is to not save money.
Q: Favorite building on campus?
A: The Student Center, because there are a lot of boba fundraisers there and I’ve gotten a few for free because people just give them to me.
Q: Favorite place to go eat?
A: H-Mart for the bento boxes.
Q: Favorite cafeteria food?
A: None, they are all mid.
Q: Favorite sport?
A: Pickleball (Ansh, you will never beat me).
Q: Favorite video game?
A: “Clash Royale,” because I am at max trophies again and peaked Ultimate Champion. One advice is to stop playing after losing one game, so you don’t tilt.
Q: Favorite project?
A: AP Calculus BC curve stitching.
Q: Favorite AI platform?
A: Claude, because its interface could connect directly to my code while coding.
Q: Favorite club?
A: I don’t like any of the clubs.
Q: Favorite English work?
A: “Hamlet,” because it’s the only book that stood the test of time.
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: “Never give up, never surrender.”
Q: Favorite part about SHS?
A: The people, because they are all very motivated and I was able to hang out with people I want to be like.
Q: What is the best advice you have received from anyone?
A: I don’t take advice.
Q: What is your best dating advice?
A: Think about your goals and what you want to achieve in the long term.
Q: Give a piece of advice for the underclassmen.
A: Do the homework the day it’s assigned to avoid copying off the answer key and homework so you can properly review.
Q: Advice for maintaining straight A’s in high school?
A: I don’t really study that much because I do the homework properly and pay attention in class and don’t use AI.
Q: Advice on how to get more than 8 hours of sleep
A: Don’t be too easily distracted and finish your homework and studying early.
Q: What’s one piece of advice for college and beyond?
A: Enjoy the process. You have to go to class whether you like or not so you might as well be happy.
Q: Final message to the Class of ‘26?
A: Keep a positive mindset. Your mindset affects how you view life.
