One cold February morning, in an attempt to escape the dreary weather, my friend and I found ourselves in Dumont Creamery and Café — a small modern café in downtown San Jose.
The café, while on the smaller side, had a nice vibe and felt very clean. Inside, the café had around six tables and seemed very slow, with only two customers other than us. After we ordered, we sat down and found that the ambiance embraced conversation between those waiting for their orders.
While the ambiance was cozy, the food was subpar. I did appreciate how it offered many types of items and ice cream flavors from kheer — an Indian dessert made with sweetened condensed milk, saffron and cardamom— to biscoff as well as many varieties of boba.
Our order consisted of a strawberry matcha latte, for $5.45; a mango blended tart smoothie, for $6.25; and an almond croissant, for $5.45.

The strawberry matcha latte came with a layer of super sweet strawberry syrup, which we found to be overpowering. We couldn’t taste the matcha at all (which was disappointing) and the strawberry syrup gave us a weird aftertaste.

Although we were hoping for a tastier smoothie, we found ourselves sorely disappointed. The smoothie was made with thick and sour plain yogurt in order to give it a tart taste and was not mixed in with the mango flavouring at all.

The almond croissant was the only item that we liked. The croissant had the perfect level of sweetness while also being flaky. I give this item 4/5 falcons.
Dumont Café was a disappointment, with two of the three items left unfinished and unpalatable. I will not be going back.
