CCC useful for students with questions

As AP tests and SAT registration deadlines approach, students often find themselves in a frenzy when seeking the details of these tests.

The CCC, for short, is coordinated by Bonnie Shiekh. Registration for most of the school-oriented tests occur and is run solely by parent volunteers. It also provides packets and information regarding college choices. The sources handed out by the center are useful to students for studying for major tests as several practice tests are available.
The CCC, located just around the corner from the main office in room X01, is a useful area that students normally pass on a daily basis and often fail to use. The hours are Monday from 9:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:55 a.m. to 3:15 p.m, Wednesdays from 9:15 to 2:45, Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.
The center is also for parents because parents can come and check out materials for their students. In a sense, parents are getting the same service as the students. Also, the CCC advises parents with tutors and other college oriented pamphlets when they come in for questions.
Even with all the available information, the center sometimes doesn’t seem to be helping many students.
“I don’t really go there because I don’t know what it’s for,” said junior Parisa Mirzadegan. “I never hear about anything that’s going on in the CCC so I don’t see a reason to go.”
As seniors are now choosing their destination for next year, it would be useful to gather information about the different schools before setting on their final choice. The center organizes several representatives from different colleges across the country to come and give a presentation about their school. To attend a presentation, students will sign up in the CCC and will receive a pass for the time the speaker arrives.
As seniors soon discover, the CCC is a great tool for discovering college-related events happening around campus as well as the bigger picture outside of SHS.
