Roundup and review: juniors find Nemo

As Homecoming week continued, juniors pulled off their own rendition of the Pixar movie, “Finding Nemo,”on Junior Quad Day, Thursday, Nov. 5.

With juniors David Mandell and Leah Capek as main characters Marlin and Dorey, the class performed several dances, each successfully linking to their theme. As the audience of students and teachers looked on, Marlin and Dorey transformed the school quad into a meeting with the “vegetarian” sharks and a school of jellyfish, as well as a dance from the deep sea featuring juniors Ricky Chiu, Vance Lindholm and Carolynn Kobara.

The dances were well coordinated as the class had gathered at 6:15 a.m. that morning to practice.

“[We] had a lot of fun with it,” said junior Jaemyeong Lee, who starred as Nemo. “I think people really enjoyed it.”

On Nov. 4, Homecoming festivities continued as students filed into the gym to watch the night rally. While the homecoming court was announced, class decoration scores were also announced. Seniors take the gold with 143 points, sophomores the silver with 117, juniors in third with 116, and freshmen in last place with 55 points.

According to Homecoming rally commissioner Jennifer Li, the scores were determined on a scale of 1-4 for each classes’ decorations’ appearance and handmade decorations, 1 being the worst and 4 being the best, and then added to the number of people who participated. Judges for decorations included all of the guidance counselors as well as front office staff June Lamm, Sharon Fong, Julia Peck and Anna Ybarra.
