Senior Alfred Murabito’s wrestling career began at age 12. At the time he had no idea where wrestling would take him; it all began as just a fun pastime. Now, just a five years later, Murabito is taking his passion to the next level and plans to wrestle at University of Pennsylvania next fall.

This season, the field hockey team is facing a difficult challenge. Unlike past years, the team has only two seniors to lead the way.

When Casey Hall stepped down as head coach for the 2011 girls’ golf season to assume a higher position at Stanford, the previously 19-member team was disappointed, to say the least.

The boys’ water polo team kicked off its season with a 4-game winning streak in the Watsonville Varsity Tournament on Sept. 9. The Falcons defeated Gilroy 17-6 in the first round, then won over Harbor 16-6 and Christopher 13-5. In the final round, the Falcons faced off against Harbor for a second time and won 11-6.

2010 Recap: Because of the injuries of key players, the Falcons were unable to fulfill their goals of a CCS title. Their primary defender, graduate Colleen Garland, broke her hand and was out for nearly the entire season, forcing the team to make difficult roster adjustments. Team captain Vanessa Block also injured her hand. Their only win was against Los Altos.

Wrestling is no simple tangle of arms and legs.

Last week was successful for the girls varsity field hockey team. They won both their games, beating Monta Vista 2-1 on Wednesday and Leland 4-1 on Friday.

Members of the track and cross-country teams are expected to grind out their workouts and put in their miles—even it means getting pelted by hail or slogging through rain and mud. Some even enjoy what other would consider torture.
