Having faced tough opponents over the past few weeks, the girls’ golf team has a record of 3-5 as of Oct. 9.

“[The other teams’] players are just better in general and have more experience,” No. 1 player senior Vivian Roan said.

Despite a 207-227 loss to Los Gatos on Sept. 23 and a 209-215 loss to Gunn on Sept. 29, the team was still able to easily defeat Wilcox in its double match on Sept. 29 with decent performances from Roan and No. 2 player junior Carrie Chen.

According to Roan, the team’s toughest opponents are Palo Alto, Gunn, Los Gatos, Lynbrook and Homestead, while Wilcox and Monta Vista are more beatable.

In order to get more practice for away matches, the girls are playing practice rounds at other schools’ courses to gain a better feel for them.

“The season is going fine, but there are still areas that we can improve on,” Chen said. “We're excited for the match against Lynbrook at Deep Cliff because [coach Dave Gragnola] said it will most likely put us in league finals if we can beat them.”

With the addition of many underclassmen to the team, the player positions have shifted with every match.

“Overall we’re improving, but sometimes we have bad days when some members [can’t play] while others do well; other times it feels the other way around,” freshman Cynthia Yang said.

After recently losing to Palo Alto on Oct. 6 and Lynbrook on Oct. 7 with scores of 223-231 and 173- 197, respectively, the team is practicing hard in order to improve their competitive play.

The next tournament took place on Oct. 13 against Los Gatos, although the Falcon was unable to cover it due to publishing deadlines.
