The girls’ basketball team will host a “Free Throw-a-thon” in an effort to fundraise for a tournament that will take place in Victoria, Canada, from Dec. 17-21.

According to girls’ basketball coach Mike Davey, the team is trying to plan the fundraiser to take place in January to help pay for travel costs to the tournament.

Donors can choose to make flat donations or donate based on the number of free throws made. Players will shoot a total of 300 free throws at the event, 10 at a time. Donors will write the check that night going directly to the team.

Before the event even begins, the girls have to go find donors who pledge a certain amount of money per free throw. To do so, they plan to ask parents, students and their own family members.

Besides having to find donors, the team members are currently running into problems with arranging a venue for the fundraiser but expect to have those worked out soon.

In the past, teams have gone to places like Disneyland and Fort Bragg for tournaments.
