Being raised in a half-Chinese, half-Vietnamese household has given me the benefit of growing up with a wide range of home-cooked Asian cuisine. My Vietnamese grandma always made pho for me when I was younger. Unfortunately, this has turned me into a very picky Pho eater.
I’ve visited many of the Vietnamese restaurants in the Bay Area, particularly in San Jose, and while there may be a few more upscale venues, one of my favorites is the friendly, hometown feel and exceptionally pleasant service of Le Quy. Its chefs prepare your dishes rapidly and if you peek into the kitchen, you'll see them smiling while they work.
Located in Campbell, Le Quy is one of the closest Pho restaurants to Saratoga. Once you walk in, you will realize how family-friendly the restaurant is. It has plenty of booths and tables. The interior is clean and casual and nicely decorated with orchids and other tasteful decor. The food selection is quite nice as well, ranging from breakfast foods to Vietnamese dishes, all of them sounding appetizing.
There are lots of traditional Vietnamese dishes such as Bun Bo Hue and Banh Canh on the menu, as well as curry that isn't usually found on the menu at most places.
Having visited Le Quy only three times after my first time there, I’ve found my favorite server, Lien. Though they are all very pleasant and attentive, Lien especially brightens your day with a genuine smile and kind personality.
The restaurant’s signature dishes include Crab Fried Rice, Seabass Fried Rice, Lemongrass Tofu, Seafood Combination Noodle Soup, Rock & Roll Beef and Yellow Curry Chicken.
The chicken it uses use is free range and hormone free. Only real seafood is used in the seafood Pho and customers get plenty of meat in it.
I can without a doubt say that Le Quy’s pork vermicelli is the best that I've ever had anywhere — at a reasonable price, I might add, $5 to $10. The portions are large and the pork is cooked to perfection.
If you’re ever craving a bowl of hot, savory Pho, definitely check out Le Quy. From a native Pho-natic, I can tell you you won’t be disappointed.
