Coach: Adam Varteressian
Last season's record: 9-6
Last Season's recap: Last year featured a strong performance by the Falcons that surprised the De Anza league. The Falcon made it as far as the quarterfinals of CCS after beating Burlingame in the first round but fell short to Mt. Pleasant.
Star player(s): catcher/pitcher Stevie Berman (12), starting pitcher/outfielder Kyle Dozier (12), outfielder Davis Berryhill (11), outfielder Jacob Marr (11)
“We do not necessarily have a ‘star-player.’ We have some players that are asked to do more and contribute more than others. But, nobody is the star, everyone's role is vital to our success,” Adam Varteressian said.
Key additions: infielder Kevin Scott (12)
“This year’s team will add quite a few juniors from last year’s frosh-soph team, so that will definitely help add depth to our roster,” Varteressian said.
Key matchups/games/meets: Wilcox, Los Altos, Palo Alto and the Valley Christian Crown Classic tournament
After a strong season in 2012, the Falcons want to continue what they had started.
“Our program and philosophies will be very similar to last year,” coach Adam Varteressian said. “We will waver very little.”
As the team returns to a familiar feel this season, the players are planning to capitalize on the potential in their roster.
“This is the best our team will be for many years,” senior pitcher Stephen Ruff said. “So our goal is to win and this year it is a very realistic goal.”
With a tough De Anza league that features schools like Wilcox, Los Gatos and Palo Alto, winning the league is a difficult task. However, the team is confident in its ability to be a strong contender this year.
“Our goals as a team are to win our league and win a CCS championship, as well,” Varteressian said. “Our players are smart enough and talented enough to do it!”
