The rivalry between the Falcons and the Wildcats has only strengthened after the Falcons moved into the Wildcats’ division this year. Despite a 28-year losing streak to the Wildcats, the Falcons are optimistic about their chances of beating Los Gatos tonight at home. They hope that the implementation of the Wing T offense, which has thrived in previous games, will help them pull off an upset and break Los Gatos’ win streak.
The Falcons, who have rushed for 1,489 yards so far, will depend on the ground attack set up by the Wing-T offense. Getting past the Wildcat defense, however, will be a challenge. A key matchup in the game will be between Mat Spencer, third in the league in rushing yards, and senior Wildcat linebacker Kyle Baumann, who has recorded the fourth most tackles in the league. Los Gatos will hold a size advantage, making it even more important that the Falcons execute properly.
As usual, the rally commission has scheduled a rally during tutorial today to encourage spirit for the game. The event will have a variety of games and might include challenges between the grade levels. The rally commission might even include a highlight video in the rally like they did last year.
Sophomore rally commissioner Aditya Dev hopes that the rally will encourage all the students to go the game to support the football team.
“Students love going to rallies because they are really competitive,” said Dev. “This Los Gatos rally is going to be even better than last year’s because we have a lot in store. We just want everyone to go to the game and have a good time.”
