- You can’t see the board
This is really the only valid reason to request a seat change; however, it is very boring. Come up with a more exciting reason to change seats.
- You are not sitting at a tall lab table
Many science classes have lab tables on the side and smaller desks in the middle. The high lab tables are simply superior to the tiny desks. Imagine others having to look up at you (physically) when trying to talk.
- You sit with your back to the board
I know a lot of the reasons have nothing to do with learning, but this is arguably the most important to your in class experience. With your back to the board, you have to add a neck turn between each lecture comment and note on your paper.
- Not sitting close to the front in Ms. Obenour’s class
As many of us know, Ms. Obenour brings out a snack cart during the break of each class. You need to be close to the front to get the best package of fruit snacks.
- Sitting next to the light switches
You always get asked to switch the lights off. They should add a wage to the amount of times you have to leave your comfortable chair and walk awkwardly in front of the whole class to reach the light switch.
- Sitting underneath the AC vent
I personally love to sit by the air conditioning vents as it keeps me cool in class, but on occasional days the temperature is just set to 50 below zero for some reason. Many people do not enjoy freezing in class on a warm sunny day so go ahead and request that change.
- Someone sitting across from you keeps kicking your desk
These annoying little brats who always kick your desk or extend their legs all the way under your desk need to learn some basic manners. If you have one of these brats opposite you, you are well within your rights to request a change.
- You’re too close to the teacher’s desk
You often don’t want a teacher to peer over and see that you are not taking notes vigorously. I don’t know what you are doing, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
- You’re not sitting next to your crush
Sometimes you can find a certain special incentive to come to school, and it can be difficult to sit in the same class without being next to them. A simple request to sit next to them might do the trick.
- You’re sitting next to your ex
I am not speaking from personal experiences, but I can imagine the difficulty of sitting next to somebody you used to date. I have seen it happen and, trust me, it is painful.
