We’ve all heard the cliche “money can’t buy happiness,” but is it really true? Studies have shown that the amount of money one possesses is directly correlated to their happiness — and I’m willing to bet that it’s actually causation. Intuitively, it makes sense. Would you rather have $10,000 in the bank or $10 million?
Money opens the gates to many opportunities: traveling and relaxing without worrying about funds. Partaking in those experiences in turn leads to higher levels of happiness. But then there are people telling you that happiness is not what’s in your wallet, but rather a collection of family, friends, circumstances, and winning the lottery wouldn’t make you happier.
However, it does.
Lottery winners are happier and whatever metric given to you by some inspirational speaker or wealthy businessman is false. Accept that money just makes you happier and move on.
