Finding Waldo among hundreds of people at the beach sometimes seems easier than finding a lunch table with an umbrella in the quad at lunch these days. At least twice a week, I walk into the quad to find backpacks littered on every table, leaving none for me and my friends.
Getting toasted on the burning, umbrella-less table by the quad steps is far from my idea of an ideal lunch. Standing in the back corner of the Student Center — when even the hottest tables are taken — is even worse.
I know juniors can go off campus to eat lunch, but I never thought that being able to leave meant I no longer had a seat on campus. My friends and I aren’t the only ones suffering from this problem. My modest proposal: The school should put an umbrella at every table on campus — and maybe add a few more tables too.
