The boys’ tennis team has secured its spot in the CCS quarterfinals following a 6-1 victory at home against Aragon on May 3.
After a strong performance from the No. 1 doubles team of senior Luke Stratakos and junior Teddy Oyang — whose match went to a third tiebreaking set — the Falcons have managed to make it past the second round of CCS.
After finishing the regular season second in the De Anza Division, they seeded No. 5 and were given a bye in the first round of CCS. They will next face Bellarmine, which finished fourth in the De Anza, on May 6 at the Bay Club in Santa Clara.
Though the team’s overall performance against Aragon was strong, junior Sarang Narasimhan said they will need to improve if they want to remain in contention for CCS semifinals and ultimately, finals.
“Overall, I think we did well, but we definitely need to improve our communication on the court,” he said. “We will be working towards having more energy on the court by integrating more scrimmages into our normal practice.”
Correction: Senior Luke Stratakos was initially identified incorrectly as junior Luke Zhang. The name has now been corrected.
