Laid-back break beats all

As my second to last set of finals in my high school career came to an end, I was exhausted from the tireless first semester, so I decided to take a few days off before finishing my applications. This was a wise decision as I had time to reflect and brainstorm for my remaining struggling essays.
As I resumed working, I felt at ease because this was one of the only things I needed to do. During the school year, the stress of school work to finish and tests to study for piled up with the applications. Luckily, I finished all my applications a few days after Christmas, and the burden was lifted off me.
I was able to spend the rest of break relaxing with family and friends, stress-free. One day, I went to my friend’s house and we binge-watched the Netflix show “You” and baked cookies for a whole day.
This was the first school break in many years that I truly felt free from academic obligations. Whether it was studying for the SAT, subject tests or just classes in general, my previous winter breaks had always been busy.
College has been a topic consistently embedded in my mind since a young age. The constant fear, anxiousness and burden of it all has worried me for many years, so the completion of that final step in my control provide me endless satisfaction. Although high school is not over yet and there are five more months of hard work, the main area of stress for myself and the majority of other seniors has been lifted.
