Boys’ golf team looks to build on strong start

After a 3-1 start to the season, the boys on the golf team are looking to maintain their momentum and further improve their standings in league. A key win over Monta Vista on March 26 propelled the team to second place in league standings, behind only Palo Alto.

With more matches under their belt, the team’s three freshmen — twin brother Albert and Geoffrey Jing and Michael Burry — are becoming more comfortable during their matches.

“They are learning fast and it’s really helping the team by pulling out close victories,” senior James Parden said.

With a match against rival Los Gatos on April 7 and rematch with first place Palo Alto on April 16 approaching, the boys are working hard during practice to prepare.

“We practice our long game to so we can be more accurate,” Parden said. “More importantly, we want to improve our focus so we can sink more putts.”

Scoreboard:

210-213 (L) @ Palo Alto

201-203 (W) @ Monta Vista

198-219 (W) @ Mountain View
