PTSO Coffee meeting welcomes new and old parents, updates about the school

On the morning of Aug. 25, administrators, counselors, booster members and parents of both new and current students came together in the cafeteria for coffee and a meeting to discuss future events organized by the PTSO.

Speakers talked about various changes that are happening on campus to relay information to the parents and encourage them to get involved.

“The administrators and the counselors talked about how we divided up the alphabet and how we are teaming together to make sure we are supporting students,” principal Paul Robinson said.

Superintendent Bob Mistele also spoke about the district’s efforts to survey parents, students, and the community to “redo [the school’s] strategic plan” to focus on goals in supporting students, according to Robinson.

According to PTSO president Sandy Wu, the group shared results from its summer project of videotaping interviews with 55 alumni attending different colleges and universities about their college experience.

It was also a time for presidents of Sports Booster and Music Boosters to talk with parents about how they support students with fundraisers that raise money for resources.

The PTSO holds the welcome coffee meeting to discussing current progress in the school.

“It was just a morning spending an hour and half almost two hours of meeting and greeting and talking about everything that is good about Saratoga,” Robinson said. “There’s always good food and good coffee.”
