ASB has decided to join Teens for Jeans, a national drive sponsored by Aeropostale that donates jeans to teens around the country who cannot afford to buy them.
Students can donate their old jeans to help homeless youth in the United States. There is a box in the office collecting the jeans until Feb. 13. So far, around 15 pairs of jeans have been donated.
“Teens for Jeans is a great way to help the community out because everyone has extra jeans that they can donate,” ASB president senior Adrienne Kim said.
Activities director Rebecca Marshburn was the one who brought up the idea during a meeting. The ASB thought it would be a great cause and immediately started to organize the drive for the school.
The school donating the most jeans in the country will receive $10,000 and a private performance from British boyband the Vamps. The winning school last year donated over 7,000 pairs of jeans. To meet that number, every student at SHS would have to donate four to five pairs of jeans.
“Everyone should come and donate their jeans because it is a great cause and an easy way to give to those in need,” Kim said.
