A day without bells: Malfunction creates confusion on Monday

As students rushed from the parking lot to their classrooms on the morning on Monday, Oct. 13, many were surprised when they walked into class at 8:51 a.m. and still beat the second bell.
These students were lucky not to be late thanks to a major malfunction of the school’s the PA system, which stopped all announcements and bell systems from sounding on campus.
“At first we didn’t know, but Mr. Moran, our plan operation supervisor, discovered that an amplifier that all the sound goes through apparently died this morning,” assistant principal Kevin Mount said.
Throughout the chaotic school day, teachers struggled to keep their classes under 45 minutes without reminders and announcements.  Students impatiently checked their phones and were forced to give teachers time-checks, as class often started and ended late.
Nevertheless, the school was able to restore the bells into working order before the next school day after finding a replacement amplifier. Mount said the administration acted without hesitation, contacting the school’s electrical company even before teachers noticed the mishap.
