A girls’ golf team that features two sophomores and one freshman among its starters is having impressive results early on, with a 2-1 record as of Sept. 19.
The girls beat Homestead and Monta Vista, where Saratoga had a score of 234, Monta Vista had a score of 287, and Homestead had a score of 264 on Sept. 15. The team also beat Lynbrook with a score of 234-236 on Sept. 8.
They lost one match against Gunn on Sept. 11 with a score of 207-227.
Junior Meghan Shah said that the team has a good chance of achieving their goal of making CCS because of the addition of new players and an overall improvement of their skills.
New varsity player Anya Herne, for example, led with the best score in the team’s game against Gunn.
So far, the top six players are senior Vivian Roan, junior Carrie Chen, freshman Sarah Lo, Herne, sophomore Raina Kolluri and junior Ankitha Sarvesh.
“One of our team’s strengths this year is that we consistently do well,” Shah said. “The only thing we may need to work on is putting.”
Shah said the team is constantly improving their skills through productive practices during the week.
Due to printing headlines, the match against Los Gatos on Sept. 23 could not be covered in the print edition. The team will play Wilcox and Gunn on Sept. 29, and Palo Alto on Oct. 6.
