For the first time last year, Grad Night was held off campus at Great America. Despite many positive reviews, Grad Night is moving back on campus this year after a majority vote from the current parents of seniors, according to principal Paul Robinson and Grad Night organizer Sushama Thakker.
“It has nothing to do with last year,” Thakker said. “We asked the parents and the majority wanted it back here.”
However, after hearing positive feedback from last year’s graduating class about the off-campus Grad Night, some seniors say they would prefer it to be at Great America.
“I was hoping it will be at Great America this year as well just because it sounds a lot more fun,” senior Ingrid Hong said.
The graduating seniors also had the whole park to themselves because Saratoga High was the only high school there.
"Grad Night last year was amazing; it was one of the best nights of my life," 2013 alumna Ramya Swami said. "There was something really special about going to a place like Great America with your class to celebrate and just have a blast."
However, other seniors would still prefer the on-campus Grad Night, such as senior class president Jackie Taysi.
“I think my friends and I have been talking and want it on campus because you can bond on campus,” said Taysi. “The point [of Grad Night] is to be with everyone and not just your friends.”
