Falcons shake off Los Gatos defeat and look ahead to CCS

The Falcons found themselves down early 14-0 and never recovered in a 28-10 loss at home on Nov. 9 to the rival Los Gatos Wildcats. Even with the loss, the team finished 6-4, good enough for the team’s first home playoff game  ever on Nov. 16 vs. the Aptos Mariners from Santa Cruz County.
The Wildcats scored a 35-yard rushing touchdown in the first two minutes. Midway through the first quarter the Wildcats worked their way up the field and scored another rushing touchdown, making the score 14-0. The Falcons immediately responded with a touchdown pass from junior quarterback Jonathan Walters to junior wide receiver Grant Faylor.
Early in the second quarter, the Falcons intercepted the ball and pushed the ball to the 18-yard line. Senior kicker Fred Feyzi kicked a field goal to make the score 14-10. The Wildcats scored another rushing touchdown three minutes later to make the score 21-10.
In the second half, the Falcons and the Wildcats battled up and down the field, but neither of the teams could produce much offense. With five minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats scored a touchdown pass and the Falcons ended the game with a loss.
“We just came out flat this game,” Walters said. “[This loss] puts us back in check.”
The Falcons say they are putting their loss behind them and are focusing on winning their first game of CCS.
“We did learn from the LG game, but we need to move on,” senior co-captain Zach Hansen said. “We need to focus on Aptos now and moving on in CCS is what will keep our season alive.”
