After being at school for a few monotonous months, students look forward to the change of pace Homecoming brings. For all of its redeeming qualities, this year’s Homecoming lacked in one major point: the fundraiser. This year’s intended fundraiser, Toys for Tots, started late and ultimately fell through.
“No one ended up donating to it at all,” said Sanjna Verma, one of the Homecoming commissioners. “We didn’t publicize well enough and Toys for Tots never confirmed that they wanted our donations anyway.”
Other issues adding up to the cancellation of the fundraiser included delayed planning and miscommunication, Verma said. Even so, she said, “We do so many fundraisers for charity such as food drives, toy drives and hospital charities, so there’s no shortage of ways to donate at the school.”
One upcoming fundraiser includes the Second Harvest Food Bank during Thanksgiving.
