The Falcons lost to Los Altos 12-1 on March 9 in their second league match-up of the season. The Falcons were shut down by Los Altos pitcher Luke Wiechec, who has been recruited to play at Fresno State next year. Senior pitcher Will Dennis struggled and gave up six runs to a potent Eagles lineup while suffering the loss.
“It was disappointing to lose after a strong win,” Dennis said, referring to their previous game against Los Altos two days earlier.
On March 7, the Falcon baseball team defeated Los Altos 9-6 at home to begin league play. Dennis contributed to the Falcons’ offense with a two-run home run. Sophomore Thomas Alexander started and was credited with the win, throwing six strong innings. The only fault in Alexander’s game was the six walks that he gave up.
“I feel like that is something I need to work on. I expect better than that and six is very unlike me,” Alexander said. “I’m going to try and focus more on control during the next few practices.”
The Falcons came out on March 10 with a vengeance against Kings Academy, winning 4-0. Junior Stevie Berman took a no hitter into the 7th inning before a pinch hitter broke it up with a single into left field. Even though it was not a league game, Berman believes that it helped him improve.
“I’m kind of disappointed that I lost it(the no hitter), but I learned from my mistakes and it helps me grow as a player,” Berman said.
