There are some things in life that are easy to learn in a day and remember for life. Drawing is not one of these things. Freshman Preethi Ravi has been taking sketching classes over the summer in India since she was 5, and has slowly perfected the art.
Ravi’s drawings were voted to be displayed on the “wall of fame” in her Indian art class, and she has won many awards from the reflections program.
To Ravi, art is more than a fun pastime. “I really became interested in art because it was a way I could express myself without being graded,” Ravi said.
What is your impression of high school so far, and how is it different from your expectations?
“At first, I thought Saratoga High would be extremely large and crowded and I would have a hard time navigating my way through. I also thought teachers would burden us with huge loads of homework. Though SHS is big and crowded, I didn’t feel as lost as I thought I would. So far, I have not received as much homework as I thought I would and am happy about that.”
What is your least favorite part about Saratoga High School?
“My least favorite thing about SHS would be the fact that my classes are so far away from each other and that I have a bottom locker.”
What is your favorite part about Saratoga High School?
“My favorite part about SHS is that we have tutorial periods to study and do homework. These time slots have been really useful because they provide us free time to ask teachers and even other students questions.”
