Hundreds of students packed the bleachers in the gym for the “Beauty and the Beast”-themed rally last Friday, building up the hype for prom the next day.
Following a brief skit from rally commision seniors Angie Chen, Alessandro Kaypaghian, Sydney Li and Dylan Wilson along with junior Rian Khetani, chaos erupted as students sprinted across the gym during a balloon-popping competition. Students were asked to pop the balloon with their partner in three rounds: standing, sitting in a chair and lying down on the floor. The first pair of students to pop all three balloons would win.

Sophomores Akiva Goldwasser and Anson Hulme got off to a swift start, advancing to the chair phase of the competition while others struggled with the chest bump. In the end, the duo left the rest of the competition in the dust, finishing the last phase before other grades had even finished their second task.
Following the hilarious competition, rally commissioners welcomed the cheer team onto the court to perform their routine.

After an energizing performance from the cheer team, rally commissioners called students and staff members onto the court for an highly anticipated dodgeball showdown with students.

Staff members raced to gather all the balls, stunned by the fact that no students attempted to gather any.
Even district superintendent Heath Rocha participated and got off to a hot start, taking students down one by one and enthusiastically holding up three fingers, showing how many students he had successfully thrown at. Within a matter of minutes, freshman Carter Wilson was left to solo against a group of four staff members.
The student section erupted with chants of “Carter,” as the freshman attempted to secure the win for the students. However, Carter fell short after being hit while ducking.
As the skit seemed to come to an end, Dylan, playing Lumière, announced, “At the end of the day, I always end up alone!” Kaypaghian and Li returned to the court, each of them holding promposal posters as Dylan walked toward the senior section for a surprise asking. The crowd erupted as Dylan asked, “Zahra, will you go to prom with me?” Senior Zahra Jeevunjee stepped forward and accepted. The crowd bursted cheering as the couple hugged and posed for a photo, ending the rally with a heartwarming moment.
