What’s considered a big accomplishment? This may be subjective, but any accomplishment is still an accomplishment, and all accomplishments are worth celebrating. The Falcon asked nine students what their biggest accomplishments were. Responses were edited for clarity and conciseness.
Falcon: How would you define the word accomplishment and what would you consider your biggest accomplishment?
Sophomore Kyle Liu: To improve on myself and reach realistic goals I set for myself while maintaining a balance of other aspects of my life. I’d say passing the United States of America Computing Olympiad (USACO) bronze and making it to silver is one of my biggest accomplishments. I felt like my hard work and effort finally paid off because I had failed my prior attempts so when I finally did it I felt very accomplished.
Sophomore Iris Jin: An accomplishment to me is feeling a sense of pride after completing something. My biggest accomplishment is making it to nationals with my team for volleyball. I consider it my biggest accomplishment because not everyone is able to make it to Nationals, and it gave me a sense of pride after my team was able to go.
Sophomore Noah Nguyen: An accomplishment to me is meeting a goal or completing something outside expectations I had for myself. Maintaining my close group of friends for over 10 years and knowing they are always here for me is probably one of my biggest accomplishments. We stayed close during many life transitions from elementary school to middle school to high school and even all throughout COVID where we couldn’t see each other. We kept our strong bond and never lost any friendship so it exceeded my expectations.
Junior Dahyun Kim: An accomplishment to me is achieving something I wanted through hard work and dedication. Getting out of bed every morning to go to school is a pretty big accomplishment for me.
Senior Han Yeung: An objective definition would be the achievement of a goal that sets a precedent for the individual. If you think about what accomplishments people take the most pride in: acceptance into colleges, winning awards or qualifying for a renowned robotics or musical program are all achieving goals that set precedents. I would say my biggest accomplishment would be doing a 160 mile bike ride from Saratoga to the North Bay (Tiburon/Sausalito).
Sophomore Arian Lotfizadeh: An accomplishment means to achieve a goal in which you have put effort into. Making the JV Basketball team after 4 years of getting cut is mine because I put in a lot of hard work to get where I am now.
Sophomore Savio Suresh: An accomplishment means a lot to me because it is the product of all my hard work and sacrifice. My biggest accomplishment is becoming a captain for the JV basketball team.
Junior Mahika Jandhyala: An accomplishment is something you feel proud of doing. My biggest accomplishment is being able to sing the second verse of “My Eyes” by Travis Scott.
Sophomore Ovee Dharwadkar: To me, an accomplishment is something that makes me feel proud of myself for the work I’ve accomplished. I think my biggest accomplishment is getting a national award for my research on computational neuroscience/psychology. It definitely made me feel proud and more confident in my abilities.
