The wild card round and the 1st round of the NFL playoffs, where the second-seeded hosts the seventh-seeded team, the third hosts the sixth, and the fourth hosts the fifth, and where the winners go against each other, respectively, ended in some thrilling results. Here are the results for the wild card round and 1st round:
- The Texans blew out the Chargers 32-12
- TRavens dominated over the Steelers 28-14
- The Bills outplayed the Broncos with a score of 31-7
- The Rams won against the Vikings 27-9
- The Buccaneers lost in a close game against the Commanders 20-23
- The Eagles beat the Packers 22-10.
- The Kansas City Chiefs won over the Texans in a controversial game because of the officiating, 23-13
- The Washington Commanders came out with an incredible upset, beating a previous superbowl favorite, the Lions, 45-31
- The Eagles beat the Rams in a snow game, 28-22
- The Bills inched past the Ravens 27-25
The conference championships are now around the corner, bringing many exciting matchups.
My predictions for the Conference Championship
The conference championship has two teams competing from the American Football Conference (AFC) and National Football Conference (NFC) conference. The winner from each conference goes on to the Super Bowl.
- Chiefs vs. Bills
Traveling to Arrowhead Stadium, the Bills will win again as they did earlier in the season (30-21) on their home field. The Bills gave the Chiefs their only significant loss of the season (excluding the last game where they benched all their starters vs. the Broncos since they held the No. playoff position), and Josh Allen will be looking to play in his first Super Bowl and finally get over the playoff hurdle that has characterized his career. Patrick Mahomes is playing arguably the worst season of his career, and his main weapon who won the Chiefs the game against the Texans was tight end Travis Kelce, who was uncovered in a lot of plays, which the Chiefs capitalized on. I think the Bills defense is more experienced and better than the Texans defense, holding Patrick Mahomes and Kelce to little. The final score: Bills 34; Chiefs: 24
- Commanders vs. Eagles
The Commanders, led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, have looked like an unstoppable force recently, and I think their matchup against the Eagles will build on that. Additionally, I think Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is overrated, as he threw less for less than 150 yards in his last 2 playoff games, and even though he makes up a little for that with his running ability, his pocket presence hasn’t looked good lately, getting sacked 7 times against the Rams, even with a top 5 O-line. In another upset, the Commanders will go to their first Super Bowl since 1992, and make Daniels the first rookie quarterback to start in the Super Bowl. Final score: Commanders 31; Eagles 28
My predictions for the Super Bowl: Commanders vs. Bills
The Super Bowl is the championship game and one of the biggest sports events, this year being held on Feb. 9 at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
I think that the Commanders will put up a fight, but the Bills will come through in the end, leading to Josh Allen’s first Super Bowl victory. The Bills were able to get past the Ravens defense, and the Commanders defense, being worse, will let up many points. Final score: Bills 38; Commanders 32.
