The Falcons swept Kathleen MacDonald with a 3-0 score at their Oct. 17 home game.
The first set was a dominant 25-10 victory for the Falcons, with strong offense by sophomore middle blocker Aanya Hotha and freshman outside hitter Chloe Zeng.
After the strong start, the Falcons were filled with energy during the second set, starting with a consecutive, 7-point serving lead by senior Emerson Pak. Tips by senior setter Narmeen Khericha, who was playing as outside hitter to experiment with her versatility, and junior right-side hitter Elizabeth Kline pulled the team even further ahead.
Under the Falcons’ pressure, the Condors stayed on defense, struggling to land hits or receive serves throughout the set. Toward the end, Zeng smashed down the line four times in a row, through the Condor’s defense. With the Condors unable to control the ball, the Falcons finished the second set ahead 25-16.
As the Falcons pulled into the third and final set, Hotha started the match off strong by cracking through the Condors’ defense with four kills. Later on, Zeng and Pak deliver devastating court-corner hits, landing four kills each. The Falcons then maintained a consistent 10-point lead, leading them to victory with a final set score of 25-10.

Senior outside Emmy Pak attempts to block a ball, then moves to hit it straight through the Condor’s defense.
“It was a game where we wanted to try a lot of new things and be able to experiment with things. Some of us switched positions and it was kind of fun,” Pak said.
After winning this game and going 3-0 against Cupertino on Oct. 24, the Falcons are guaranteed second place in the El Camino league. Their final game will be against Wilcox on Oct. 29.
