- I forgot my homework
We’ve all experienced that heart-dropping moment when you’re halfway to school and suddenly realize you’ve left the only assignment due that day (that’s worth 50% of your grade) on your desk at home. Of course taking the F isn’t an option, so here goes the tardy.
- I had a coffee catastrophes
For my morning coffee drinkers, the classic movie scene of splattering coffee all over yourself often becomes a reality during the hectic rush of busy mornings. So here is a difficult decision for you: do you go to school with a big, soon-going-to-dry, brown stain on your shirt? Or do you change and gladly take that tardy?
- I had intense — very intense — dreams
Whatever it is that you may be dreaming about, it always seems to reach the best part right when your alarm goes off. You find yourself wishing you could just stay in that dream a little longer, only to be jolted awake and faced with the reality that it’s already 8:26 AM and that you are officially late.
- I got lost
For new drivers on the road who struggle with directions, it’s all too easy to miss or turn one intersection too early while your morning eyes are still adjusting or your sleepy brain is trying to process the road directions while driving.
- “My Dog Ate My Homework”
A very classic move that we’ve all seen in cartoons, but hey, unironically it might actually happen in real life. All pet owners can relate to the chaos when playful pets snatch up homework, shoes, or phones from the table counters.
- I fell into a social media black hole
We often pick up our phones to check just one notification, only to find ourselves lost in an endless scroll of stories and reels on Instagram and TikTok. Before you know it, you might have time traveled to 8:30 am while still at home scrolling through someone’s posts.
- My sibling messed me up
No matter what, my sister always finds a way to slow things down. Whether she’s occupying the bathroom for 30 minutes or hiding my phone, her antics guarantee I won’t be on time.
- My parents were slow — so slow
The one day where you manage to be ready on time, your parents dig deep to find a trick to make you late. Whether it’s your mom asking you to help her find her keys for the fifth time or your dad needing a last-minute lecture about responsibility, their well-meaning distractions can stretch your morning routine into an epic saga. By the time they are finally ready to leave, you wish you could have sprinted out the door and escaped sooner.
- I had an unplanned fashion crisis
For many, including myself, the search for the perfect outfit and color palette can take longer than expected, especially if you were lazy the night before and didn’t prepare what you’re going to wear in advance. Holding up different jeans and tops in front of the mirror can quickly turn into a time-consuming rabbit hole.
- The all-time MVP: I hit the snooze button
Each morning is a battle with the snooze button, often hit five times before I finally get out of bed. With each ring, I silence it, only to be awakened by my mom yelling at me to get ready for school.
