I scramble through my English homework, racing against the stark Canvas lettering that spells out my doom — “due 11:59 p.m.” I hastily scribble words across the page, forming jumbled sentences full of half-baked analysis. I fumble to open my phone’s Adobe scanning app to take a picture of my pitiful assignment. My fingers drum a frantic rhythm on my table as it uploads the picture into PDF format. 23 seconds left!
I airdrop the image to my laptop and click submit. 12:01 a.m. The bright red letters spell out the mocking word “late” across my page, and I let out a sigh of defeat.
Not only do I have to race the clock each time I try to submit an assignment, but when it inevitably uploads a minute late, my grade is penalized by 50%. There’s no reason to submit the assignment at midnight, especially when teachers won’t even look at the work until the next morning; it only adds unnecessary stress when I am not able to finish the work the night before it’s due. I have a simple plea: It’s so much better if we can turn in our assignments at the start of class.
