Editor’s Note: As of March 27, the job description has been updated from the previous full-time 1.0 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) to 0.6 FTE.
A job listing for a full-time assistant principal position at the school was posted on EdJoin, the nation’s No. 1 education job board, on March 1.
According to Los Gatos Saratoga Union High School District Public Information Officer Tanya De La Cruz, one current assistant principal will be leaving, and a new one will be hired to begin serving at the start of the 2023-24 school year.
The district declined to say which of the school’s three assistant principals will not return or why that person is leaving. The school’s three assistant principals are Abra Evanoff, Brian Thompson and Matt Torrens. None have made an official announcement regarding resignation or departure to another school.
According to Section 44951 of the California Education Code, if a district decides to release a faculty member or administrator, notice must be given by March 15 of the preceding school year.
Unlike tenured teachers who have more legal protections, administrators work as at-will employees, meaning the school board has more leeway to release them from their position.
The posted annual salary for the assistant principal position varies based on experience, but is estimated to range between $175,644 to $197,690. The deadline to apply for the job is March 26. De La Cruz said applicant screening and interviewing will take place thereafter.
This is a developing story. Updates will be made as an Editor’s Note until more information is released and another story is published.
