Turn off the Christmas Music

Screen Shot 2020-12-02 at 1

Every year, my younger sister asks to play Christmas music after Thanksgiving, and every year, I say no. Every year, she asks why, and every year, I say Christmas music sucks.

When someone says Christmas music, they typically mean popular songs like “Jingle Bells” and “Deck the Halls” played for months in stores and on TV and the radio. Even when artists release Christmas albums, they contain bland renditions of these same songs.

On top of being overplayed, these Christmas songs themselves are boring and have a sense of over-exaggerated cheeriness that makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

These overplayed and underwhelming songs are bound to get irritating once you have a few Christmases under your belt. Let me say it once and for all: Christmas music is bad.
