100-word rave: delicious, delectable, delightful — a love letter to cafeteria lunch February 17, 2024 — by Jonny Luo Photo by Jonny LuoA scrumptious pizza with a side of chocolate milk and fruit cups. Updating my childish, sophomore-self on the glory that is cafeteria lunches. In 2022, I wrote a story titled, “Why I’ve given up on school cookies,” venting my uneducated, childish opinion on poor cafeteria workers, declaring their cookies tasted like “cardboard.” Two years later — my taste buds having evolved to become increasingly refined — I’ve revised my opinion, elevating it to a height above even heaven. School lunch is more than just acceptable — it is actually tasty, something I look forward to eating most days. Sure, there are a few misses: The mushy rice, dry hamburgers and stale fries. Beyond that, the cafeteria has dishes that would make foul-mouth Gordon Ramsay happy: All their pasta dishes, the yogurt parfaits, the breakfast burrito bowl and the crepes. All are delicious and healthy! If you always go off campus for lunch or have never given cafeteria food a go, it’s high time you try some the next time you walk past. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! Tags: cafeteria, lunch 12 views this weekAbout the contributorsJonny LuoJonny Luo, Class of '24, is an Editor-in-Chief of the 2023-24 staff.
