This year’s freshman Quad Day defies expectations

Although freshman Quad days are often disorganized and shaky, the Class of 2019 proved this not always to be true.  

The participants in the show came out energetic and put on a successful performance. 

Freshman choreographer Lidya Payne felt that the freshman girls dance, which featured around 30 people, in particular was successful and entertaining. 

“We had so many practices, so it was crazy but worth it,” Payne said. “The experience of being on the dance team really helped me because we always do different dances and different styles.”

Although going into the weekend, the freshmen held off on practicing, they banded together late on Sunday evening to run through their Quad Day from start to finish. 

According to freshmen class president Roshan Verma, after the run-through, the class felt pretty good about their quad day.

“Despite hardships we had to battle like having one of our songs cut late, after Sunday’s final run through, we finally knew we were prepared,” Jammula said. 

The Class of 2019’s skits featured numerous jokes, a majority of which were directed at the sophomores, and according to Verma, “[the freshmen] had seen other grades tease each other, so we thought we should incorporate it as well.” 

“We  may have gone a little overboard with the jokes, but we just want everyone to know that it was all for fun,” Verma said.

Overall, the freshmen were thrilled with how their first Quad Day performance turned out. 

“Besides us being a little disorganized at first, I think we did pretty well,” freshman Veda Jammula said. “It was an exciting experience.”
