Is Taylor Swift the craftiest songwriter of our era? I think yes.
Is Taylor Swift the craftiest songwriter of our era? I think yes.

10. “Delicatereputation (2017)

Diving into Swift’s pop era, “Delicate” immediately charted on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart due to its attention-grasping tune and rhythmic dynamics.

9. “Exile ft. Bon Iverfolklore (2020)

This song, probably one of the best collabs to take place in the past few years, blends Iver’s bass vocals flows alongside the melancholy piano melody to initiate a never-ending stream of tears. This song is for you if you have ever had a breakup before (2-week-long relationships don’t count).

8. “Right Where You Left Meevermore (deluxe version) (2021)

Another underrated song that deserves far more attention, “Right Where You Left Me,” has concrete imagery that English teachers could only wish their students had. Trust me, listen to the lyrics and try telling me you won’t plagiarize the chorus for your future poetry assignments.

7. “You Belong with MeFearless (Taylor’s Version) (2021)

Infamously known as the song that won Swift a VMA Award, which soon enough got snubbed by Kanye West, this classic love story between two teenagers embodies the storybook relationship we all yearn to have.

6. “All Too Well (10-minute version)Red (Taylor’s Version) (2021)

A perfect song recreated a decade later, “All Too Well” is arguably one of the best “moving on” anthems Swift has released. The song’s soft beats and guitar chords merge with her perfectly written lyricism, leaving the listener wanting the piece to last forever.

5. “MineSpeak Now (2010)

Debuting at No. 3 on the Hot 100 in 2010, “Mine” paints a full story arch supported by cheesy pop instrumentation and a touch of country (I don’t even like country music, but this is the exception).

4. “New Romantics1989 (Deluxe Edition) (2014)

One of the most underrated songs from the “1989” deluxe album, the strong pop beats and invigorating tune make this song ideal to scream along to with the windows down.

3. “Augustfolklore (2020)

Rising in popularity over the past summer, “August” redefines the typical summer love story with its indie-pop tune and catchy instrumentals.

2. “False GodLover (2019)

An embodiment of her album “Lover,” the song encapsulates the romantic and whimsy passions through its relaxed jazz and blues — a rare component in Swift’s typical songwriting.

1. “Champagne Problemsevermore (2020)

With a light touch of piano chords and flawless lyricism, this is yet another song that will send you into a bottomless pit of depression (in a good way). While Swift doesn’t support alcoholism, you might consider it after listening to this song.
