Top 10 pastas April 3, 2023 — by Victoria Lin Graphic by Leyna ChanThe different types of pasta. A ranking of pastas with very Italian names. 10. Penne The short, hollow pasta that has diagonal cuts and looks exactly like the Mostaccioli. It’s pasta plagiarism. 9. Ravioli A square piece pasta that has stuffing inside and is one of the only ways people will eat spinach willingly. It tastes like watery cardboard, but maybe it’s because I always eat the microwave ravioli. 8. Gnocchi It’s thick, and it’s one of the only potato-made foods that doesn’t taste good. I’m not sure how people can consume that much starch and enjoy it. 7. Tortellini It’s a fancy ravioli, but it’s stuffed with meat instead of spinach. It’s like a mini lasagna and doesn’t have the wet cardboard taste. 6. Rotini A spiral pasta that looks like you’re eating a screw. 5. Conchiglie Looks and sounds like a conch shell that gave up on being a conch shell. 4. Rigatoni It’s just a short tube. People usually cook it with vodka; it tastes better that way. 3. Macaroni A bent-shaped tube that can either be seen as a smile or a frown. It’s usually paired with too much cheese, but it gets points for creativity. 2. Lasagna A thick, ribbon-like pasta, and also Garfield’s favorite food. With layers of meat, cheese and pasta, it is truly an architectural masterpiece in the world of pasta. 1. Spaghetti Pasta in string form, and therefore the best pasta. 5 views this weekAbout the contributorsVictoria LinVictoria Lin, Class of '24, is a Sports Editor.
