Redwood Middle School underwent an after-school lockdown on Oct. 1 around 4:30 p.m. The lockdown ended with every person on campus safely evacuated in small groups to the parking lot of West Valley College by law enforcement.

The lockdown was prompted by a threatening note left at the school’s administrative office. In addition to the students staying after school as part of the music program, about 150 people were on campus at the time for a soccer game, according to a public statement made by the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s statement also stated that nearby residences were not subject to any imminent threat during the lockdown

The juvenile suspected of leaving the note was apprehended  in the Village area, unarmed and arrested on charges of making a criminal threat. Officials declined to release further information because of the suspect’s age.
