If Safeway and other grocery stores ran low on ice cream on Friday, Oct. 2, it most likely occurred because the school's Link Crew had purchased their supplies in an effort to feed ice cream to the 300-member Freshmen class and their Link leaders during tutorial that day.

According to senior Link Crew Commissioner Josh Dey, the event, which in previous years was held during lunch, was moved to tutorial to attract more upperclassmen.

"It was nice to have it during tutorial so it didn't interfere with anyone's lunch plans,” senior Josh Dey said. “This change made the event much more tolerable and overall more effective for the freshmen.”

Link Leaders also felt that this year’s Ice Cream Social ran more efficiently than previous years because, according to senior Link Crew Commissioner Jennifer Chen, the Link Crew was much more prepared.

“Unlike last year, we tried to keep Link groups together so that it was more of a social event,” Chen said. “This was much more organized, and the Link Crew were able to focus on preparing really well for a successful social.”

Freshmen, too, viewed the event as a success.

“It was a good way to check in with our Link leaders, but it was even better to talk to the people around us who we normally don’t talk to,” freshman class president Roshan Verma said. “It was awesome to have some free ice cream as well.”
