Royalty honored at halftime of Homecoming game along with fall teams

Seniors Paul Hulme and Taylor Chu were chosen as this year’s monarchs.

The stands were packed with a “White-Out” theme as students cheered on the Falcons during the Homecoming football game against Cupertino on Sept. 22 (a game they lost 34-13). During halftime, the Homecoming royalty was announced.

Homecoming court voting opened on Sept. 6, and two students from each of the freshman, sophomore and junior class as well as six students from the senior class were voted into this year’s court.

The court included freshman Alan Rong and Katie Yang; sophomores Nolan Woo and Jena Lew; juniors Neel Reddy and Natalie Zaragoza; and seniors Jonny Luo, Dev Krishnamoorthy, Simarya Ahuja, Paul Hulme, Taylor Chu, Victoria Lin, Sannidhi Boppana and Ashley Henry. In the end, Hulme and Chu were crowned this year’s Homecoming monarchs.

The halftime show was organized and planned by the spirit commission, consisting of juniors Emmy Pak and Lucie Le Toquin and seniors Annalyn Bui and Zineerah Ahmed.

Dozens of players from each of the school’s fall sports walked in front of the old-time Thunderbird cars, each of which housed two court members, in order to honor the school’s athletic teams.

This year was Krishnamoorthy’s first time in Homecoming court — he described it as a highly memorable part of his high school experience so far.

“I was shocked to be chosen — I didn’t expect it at all,” Krishnamoorthy said. “I was amazed to see everyone in the crowd with their school spirit during the game. It was definitely an unforgettable night.”
