Spring is coming into full swing, people look for new places to visit. With places like Vasona Park becoming monotonous with each passing year, students will be looking for the next local attraction that provides something new. Lake Elizabeth Park in Fremont is one such place.

Although the drive to the park is a bit long at 30 minutes, the park offers many amenities that everyone will enjoy. Since the park opened in 1960, the city of Fremont has been adding newer and better features to make it one of the better parks in the Bay Area. From the addition of softball fields to the iconic boats that people can rent to row across the lake, Lake Elizabeth has something for everyone.

One of the main amenities of the park is its open nature. With more than 45 picnic areas and large amounts of open green grass, the park offers great space for people to just relax and have a great time.

For those who want to be more active, Lake Elizabeth offers a great amount of activities free for the public. With areas in place for playing volleyball, softball and soccer, the park gives visitors an opportunity to have a bit of athletic fun with friends.

If athletics aren't of interest, the park the park offers boat rentals, which is a soothing way to observe the local natural life while having a fun time.

However, the best amenity the park offers is a water park that opened five years ago. With four water slides, a pool, a lazy river and a a zone where a large bucket of water falls on people, the aqua park is a great attraction.

Although the aqua park may not be the closest or largest water park in the area, it still allows for a break from going to the same water park over and over again.

Lake Elizabeth is an open park with many great features. Although the drive is a little long, it is worth it.
