Homecoming review: Sophomores exceed Quad Day expectations

On the second day of Homecoming week, sophomores gave an impressive performance centered around their Pac-Man theme. Their Quad Day was a memorable one as their skit, jokes and dances ran smoothly.

Their overall showing was organized and exciting. Unlike the freshmen, the sophomores’ plot had a clear and coherent storyline centering around two boys who get transported into Pac-Man’s world and then help him ask Ms. Pac-Man to Homecoming. Despite difficulties along the way, Pac-Man is finally able to capture Ms. Pac-Man’s attention and she decides to give him a chance. 

Adding to the clear story line, the technical difficulties that clouded the freshmen Quad Day were resolved, which led to an energetic and powerful show. 

Their Quad Day included two impressive and entertaining dances in the all-guys’ dance and the girls’ dance to OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars.” The all-guys dance brought life and humor into the mix as the sophomore boys performed an energetic routine. The “Counting Stars” dance showed its own creativity with live singing from sophomore girls while others performed acrobatic stunts across the quad. 

“Our quad day was better than we expected,” sophomore Sabrina Clark said. “Nobody had seen everything together until that morning and it showed how much work we all put into it. Everyone was really appreciative of all the leaders.”

Their experience in the Homecoming process helped give them another edge that the freshmen did not have.

“We knew how things were and we knew the competition,” sophomore Matthew Zung said. “We wanted our performance to be the funniest. The dances were a success and the skit was very funny.”

Without doubt, the sophomores set a high standard on Oct. 2. 

“I'm really proud of both [the] decorations and our Quad Day [and] I thought both were a success overall,” sophomore president Luke Salin said. “We definitely crushed any expectations and set the bar high for next year's quad day.”
