The girls’ basketball team won its second consecutive El Camino League title this year, tallying an undefeated 12-0 league record and an record of 21-5. The girls’ season ended Feb. 25 when they lost 45-22 during a second-round CCS matchup at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

“We played really well in the preseason, which resulted in us getting a bye for the first round [of CCS],” sophomore shooting shooting guard Dharini Ramaswamy said.

Next year the girls will be playing in a higher division since they will be moving up to the De Anza League, and junior Hannah Johnson said the competition will be tougher with the team playing Wilcox, Los Gatos and Palo Alto.

The team will lose senior posts Talia Sisco and Campbell Oreglia to graduation. Even though both players did a tremendous job during their Saratoga High basketball careers, Ramaswamy believes that next year’s team will be able to make up for those losses.

“I am looking forward to [next year] as we have many returning players who are talented and experienced,” Ramaswamy said.

Leading the team were Ramaswamy, who scored nearly 12 points per game, and Johnson, who averaged 15.
Johnson said Ramaswamy emerged as a player this year while competing against mostly juniors and seniors.
“I feel like Dharini is a different player from last year,” Johnson said. “She was good last year on junior varsity, but was one of our best players this year for varsity.”
