The dance team is only in its second year, yet it has accomplished more than it hoped.

At nationals, the team placed second in the lyrical category and eighth in jazz. The eight girls had a great year overall, and gained a lot of experience from their performances at football games, baseball games, and rallies.

“My favorite part about being on the team was performing at rallies,” senior co-captain Madison Seagraves said. “I love the adrenaline right before we go on stage, and it's fun to perform in front of the whole school and show the school what we have been working on the whole year.”

The team began the year with dance camp over the summer. Throughout the year, they performed at football games, basketball games, rallies and competitions, finishing their season in March with a successful trip to Anaheim for nationals.

“I think the team improved so much this year,” Seagraves said. “We're all so sad that the season is coming to an end because we're like a family; spending every day together and going through highs and lows really brought us together.”

The team became even closer during their trip to Anaheim, where they practiced, competed and enjoyed Disneyland for four days.

“My favorite part of the [Anaheim] trip was the competition,” senior Nadia Younes said. “It was super nerve-wracking, but it was great because everything we worked for since summer finally paid off.”

The team continued practicing skills and past dances until tryouts for the 2015-2016 team the week of April 28.

[Try-outs] was an overall welcoming atmosphere and I felt comfortable to speak up whenever I had a question,” junior Chloe Koon said. “I'm excited to be an officer next year and to be a part of something more from my school.”

Approximately 20 girls tried out for the 2015-2016 dance team, and 11 girls made the team.

The team next year is probably going to be very big so it'll be a change from this year,” Younes said. “But we have a very good coach who pushes the team to want to do better so I think the team will do great next year.”
