Students honored for their work in world languages

According to department chair Arnaldo Rodriguex, this year was the first time that such an event was held.

During a ceremony held in the faculty lounge on Dec. 6, students from various world language classes gained recognition for their achievements within the department.

The students who were invited to the event were freshman Shauna Zahabi, Shi Yuan and Omkar Kulkarni for Spanish 1; freshman Anirudh Balepur, Neeyati Devanagowdi, Charlotte Shewchuk and Colin Zejda and sophomores Abhay Manchala, Shivam Mani and Sammy Sulivan for Spanish 2; sophomores Tricia Jain, Ujjwal Krishnamurthi and Ritika Kuppam and juniors William Liu and Madeline Stuart for Spanish 3; juniors Jamie Hong, Deyshna Pai and Sohail Syed for Spanish 4H and senior Ryan Anderson for Spanish AP.

For French 1: freshman Kachin Saul and Grace Stuart; for French 2: sophomore Gordon Schwabe; for French 3: junior Christina Ingster and for French AP: junior Samyukta Iyer.

For Chinese 1: freshman Samuel Moretti; for Chinese 2: sophomore Daniel Robinson; for Chinese 3: freshman Hermione Bossolina and sophomore Devin Shah; for Chinese 4H: sophomore Jui-Yu Huang and sophomore Rayne Schulman; for Chinese 5H: junior Kevin Jin and for Chinese AP: sophomore Wei-Han Huang.

According to department chair Arnaldo Rodriguex, this year was the first time that such an event was held.

As a department we thought it would be a great idea to honor students who go above and beyond for their effort, engagement and enthusiasm in our classes,” Rodriguex said. “The event was great; kids were able enjoy a pastry and a drink in a relaxed environment with their teachers.”
