As part of the Silicon Valley Reads 2013 program, SVR is inviting students in journalism programs in the area to attend a special press conference. The event will be held at the Cupertino Library on Feb. 1 starting at 4 p.m. and will last for 30-45 minutes.
The press conference will be mediated by a local journalist who will give the background of the SVR program and the authors’ works. This year’s SVR theme is “The Invisible Wounds of War”, which is an important but controversial topic that brings to the surface many feelings and emotions.
This event will give young reporters the opportunity to ask questions and talk to published authors afterwards. Since the teen press conference is at the beginning of the SVR program, all attendees will have the opportunity to speak with authors before they start their own discussion tours around Silicon Valley.
“It is a wonderful opportunity for young journalists to get the experience being part of an actual press conference and to cover an important local event,” Cupertino Teen Services Librarian Matt Lorenzo said.
To attend this event, please email or call Lorenzo at mlorenzo@sccl.org or  408-446-1677  Ext: 3344.
