The week before school started in August, she came back early from her trip to Alaska because she was in excruciating pain. She went to the doctor and saw multiple specialists who confirmed her diagnosis, and surgery was scheduled for November. Cochrum’s substitute teacher is Georgia Schultz, a former aide. Schulz will be overseeing the students as they complete some of the more “fun labs” normally interspersed into the curriculum and watching a movie.
