This year’s junior prom theme is “Escape to Paradise,” and will be held in the Decathlon Club in Santa Clara on April 19.

In contrast to previous years, the event will have a sit-down dinner rather than a buffet. There will be three options of entrees and a dessert bar. Students will choose their food option when they buy their bids.

“We realized that buffets can be much more difficult to manage than a sit down dinner,” junior class vice president Anish Srinivasan said. “We wanted people attending to sit down and enjoy their dinner, instead of feel obligated to eat as much as they could just because it was a buffet.”

Additionally, the junior class has struggled financially and started the year with the smallest funds out of all of the existing three classes. In order to make up for this lack of money, the junior class has been hosting fundraisers throughout this school year.

“We’ve worked on fundraising this entire year and we’ve been spending minimal money on unnecessary things,” junior class president Adrienne Kim said. “We want [Prom] to be affordable because we want more people to be able to be there.”

The officers have targeted a bid cost at around $95, close to what the price was last year, but that could change depending on how money is made by their upcoming fundraisers.

“We have worked really hard to make this event as fun as possible,” Srinivasan said. “We hope that many people come because it will be exciting.”
