Club day acts as a gateway for the future

High school is a time for students to plan for their future. But with so many students swept up in the academic competition, there is not enough of an emphasis on the non-academic aspects of life.

Throughout their high school careers, students have become convinced that achieving good grades and attending a top college is essential for a successful future. However, what they do not realize is that a successful future consists of much more than straight A’s in high school.

Being a well-rounded person helps ensure a successful future, more so than simply getting good grades. Clubs are a great way to expose students to different opportunities and experiences. In fact, it is only by getting out of the classroom and exploring the world outside of the basic curriculum that students find their passions.

Club Day is an annual event that offers students a variety of clubs that can introduce students to specific interests as well as shape an individual's character. With over 50 clubs to choose from, students have the opportunity to join multiple clubs that focus on different aspects,  from lighter volunteering to competing.

For example, the mock trial team gives students the opportunity to express themselves through improv, while also improving academic and social interests and learning about a possible future career.

Aside from clubs that focus on competition and learning, clubs like Interact or Culinary Club also give students a chance to give back to their community while participating in activities they enjoy. This is a perfect way for students to take a moment out of their day and relax while dedicating their time to something beneficial.

Because the school offers such a wide variety of different clubs catering to many interests, students will find a few clubs that intrigue them. Clubs can help students realize that academics are not the only aspect to focus on during their four years at Saratoga.

Attending Club Day and previewing the many clubs offered can help students build a foundation and discover their true passions. Finding these interests and hobbies will not only benefit students during high school, but will also enrich them for a lifetime.
