Last season, the girls impressed the coach by going 9-9 were and were one win away from making CCS. It was the closest the girls had ever gotten to the playoffs in the history of the school’s program.
“Despite having only four seniors on the team and starting six sophomores, 2012 was the winningest season in SHS girls’ lacrosse history,” coach Eric Wong said.
According to Wong, the team had achieved its goal of rebuilding the team last season.
“We were young on both varsity and JV last year so a year of experience will do wonders for our performance,” Wong said.
With a new upcoming season, the coach hopes that the improved team can make history.
“We are aiming to make it to the playoffs for the first time in school history and compete for a SCVAL league championship,” Wong said.
The team’s first match is on Feb. 26 against Sacred Heart Prep.
“If the girls commit to improving themselves as individuals and as a team each practice and each game we will achieve our goals,” Wong said.
